Kirsi Tikka, soprano
	She began her musical studies playing the cello at the college of music in Joensuu in 1980, and continued since 1985 in training of young people at the Sibelius Academy as a student of Raimo Sariola. In 1992-1994 Tikka studied singing at the Concervatory of Helsinki as a student of Matti Pello. Since autumn 1994 she has studied in the opera training at the Sibelius Academy with Marjut Hannula. Kirsi Tikka made her debut in the role of Adele in Johan Strauss's operetta Bat which was the procuction of Sibelius Academy at the Aleksander Theater in the spring 1995. Later she has appeared in Academy's productions as Musetta in Puccini's La Bohéme, as Susanna in Mozart's Figaro's Wedding, as Juliet Brook in Brittens opera for children 'The Little Chimneysweeper' ans as Clodinda in Rossini's Cinderella, and as Frasquita in Bizet's Carmen in Lohja. The role of Musetta in Bohéhe at the opera in Vaasa in January 1997 was a success both in Vaasa and in Umeå and at the visit to Pärnu.

In September 1997 she was in Dordtrecht, Holland as one of the 15 young artists around the world at the Belcanto Festivals. There she sang the main role in Cimarosa's opera L'impresario in angustie and performed also as a soloist in concerts. She has particepated in master courses held by Dorothy Irving, Alberto Zedda, Nicola Tagger and Jorma Hynninen. Kirsi Tikka has appeared as a soloist in many chamber music orchestras, and she has held her own solo concerts. She was the representavive of the opera studies by Sibelius Academy in December 1996 in Portugal. sooloilloin ja hän on edustanut Sibelius-Akatemian Oopperakoulutusta Portugalissa joulukuussa 1996. She was engaged in the Soloist bank by The Finnish Opera Society for the year 1997.

In the winter saeason 1997-98 she studied in Italy, first in Milan with Adelisa Tabiado and Luca Gorla, and after that with Michael Aspinalli. In addition, she has participated in concerts, such as the Gala Concert of the Finnish Independence in Rome. Her performance 20.3 1998 in Recanati at the concert jubilateing 108 years from the birth of Beniamino Gigli was a triumph. She was held as the best singer in this concert!
