Beniamino Gigli Association in Finland

Achievements of the association in years 1985-2003:
  1. The plate for the memory of Gigli's concerts in Kisahalli in Helsinki was attached to the wall of Kisahalli. The plate states in Finnish, in Swedish and in Italian that Gigli sang in this place in 1954.
  2. in 1991 our association published a booklet about happenings during Gigli's hundreth anniversary. The booklet contains the most extensive list of the happenings.
  3. president Torsten Brander published in 1989 the biography of Gigli in Finnish"Recanatin tenori - Beniamino Gigli" (The tenor of Recanati - Beniamino Gigli). The biography received wide international attention.
  4. Torsten Brander received the first golden medal from the city of Recanati for his activities.
  5. association has organized in 1987 - 2002 in Espoo and in Helsinki 22 concerts dedicated to the memory of Gigli. The concerts have been very succesful.
  6. in 1993 the association founded the Beniamino Gigli price to be given to persons having merit for the work dedicated to Gigli.

  7. association has organized nearly 30 lectures about Gigli (Jussi Björling Museet Borlänge in 1995) and several Gigli exhibitions in different parts of Finland.
  8. association has published two postcards about Gigli in 1990 and in 1995.
  9. association has its own table flag and brooch.
  10. The honorary President is soprano Rina Gigli and among the honorary members are the tenors Raimo Sirkiä, Peter Lindroos, Pietro Ballo, Fabio Armiliato, bass Hannu Heikkilä and Pentti Rajaheimo.
